In India, Cricket is considered as a religion and Sachin Tendulkar as God. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is known as the greatest One Day International and Test Cricket player in the world. Sachin, more famously known as the ‘master blaster’ of Indian cricket, holds the maximum number of batting records in the world than any other player.

These records include the maximum Test Cricket centuries and One Day International centuries. He has been voted as the greatest cricket of all time by many newspapers and magazines. He received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India’s highest sporting honour, for 1997-1998, and the civilian award Padma Shri in 1999. Tendulkar was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1997.

Early Life:

Sachin Tendulkar took birth on 24 April, 1973 in Mumbai into a middle class family. The parents of Sachin, Ramesh and Rajni Tendulkar named him after the famous music director Sachin Dev Burman. Sachin began his cricketing career at Sharadashram Vidyamandir School under the guidance of Coach Ramakant Achrekar. In a particular Harris Shield game at school, Sachin was involved in a humongous 664 run partnership with teammate and friend Vinod Kambli. Sachin was inducted into the West Zone Ranji Trophy league for Mumbai at the age of 14 and thus, the legend was born.

Sachin Tendulkar’s Feats:

At 15 years and 232 days, Sachin was the youngest to score a century on debut. Why I Admire Sachin?

Sachin is the most complete cricketer of his time. I love him not just for his records but because he is a good human being as well. He has donated a lot in charity and other institutions. His dedication for cricket remains strong and unflinching. A chronic back problem and Tennis elbow failed to deter him. He has come out stronger after every break.

Sachin has stupefied millions of fans with many great innings in his twenty years of playing cricket. In the words of Sir Donald Bradman, Sachin has the skill of a genius which only a few people possess. It was a skill which he developed over a period of time. Thus, Sachin is my role model.
